Kelly Family

The Kelly family (2010) having some fun in the Wild West of South Dakota!

The folks of Innishfree understand how difficult it may be to trust someone you have never met and how crazy it may sound to buy a puppy unseen.  And yet, when you are looking for that special redfox lab pup you have to often go outside your circle of friends which is exactly what the internet was built to do and what the folks of Innishfree have built their reputation on doing and doing well.

You may never get the opportunity to shake hands with the Kelly's in person but they do consider their word as their bond and you can rest assured that they will always do everything possible to exceed your expectations when getting your next red fox Lab puppy from them.

Michael & Linda Kelly along with their 9 kids live in the beautiful Black Hills of Western South Dakota just a hop skip and a jump from Mt. Rushmore. Having a large active family it only seemed natural to include many dogs into the mix.  The Kelly family currently shares their home, often including their beds, with German Shepherds, an English Mastiff, as well as our hunting breeds the English Setters and the Red Fox Labradors.

Linda tells us that since she was a young girl she was "drawn to the gentle wisdom that comes from spending time with a good dog".  The Kelly's have worked with dogs of all sizes but, like so many Americans, they were drawn to the easy going, intelligent and family-friendly nature of the Labrador Retriever who continues to be the most popular breed in the United States, according to recent AKC statistics.

After spending several years mentoring with Jim Helm of JimSaNik, considered to have been one of the best pointing dog / hunting dog trainer and breeder, Michael & Linda have made it their mission to continue Jim's legacy of breeding the finest natural pointing hunting fox red lab dogs around. And, the word from the families who have been lucky enough to get one of these dogs they are really hitting the mark.

Foxy red lab puppies sale.Linda,
Just wanted to send a quick update (the first of many I'm sure) about "Perfection Personified Percy" aka Percy the Piranha! Just kidding but his teeth are certainly sharp.

We had our first vet visit this morning and he was a big hit with the entire staff.....the vet was amazed that he "sits" on command at his young age. He is adapting very well and we've promised him a wonderful life.....he did ask me to send his love and puppy kisses to you and yours and his Foxy mama.

Thank you once again for our amazing little Percy!
Take care,
Lyn

Well Mic turned one yesterday. He is everything you said he would be and more. He is a natural hunter, but he needs more training (my fault). He is loving and tries to be obedient even when he is very excited. He is the fastest runner I have ever seen and incredibly agile. He also is a great swimmer. I hope all is well with you and your family (including the dogs).

Brodie male foxred labrador puppyBrodie is doing great! He goes for his JR hunt test in a month. He is about 71 pounds now and his solid as a rock, sleeps most of the day on the heated floor and loves to play in the snow. We are really enjoying him cant wait to get him to Kansas this year for quail hunting!

Brodie is doing wonderful with his training and making quite a hit with how fast he picking things up! The trainer has never seen a dog so excited to work and pick things up, instead of taking jr hunt test in june it will now be the 1st of may and she thinks he will be way ahead when it comes to SR hunt test so hopefully end of june, he has spent most of his time in FL and KY for his training because the weather is so bad here, she does most of her training in between hunt test in those areas, I already have been contacted by 11 people wanting to know when and if I would be breeding him. So we are really excited for his progress. In September I will run him in the APLA hunt test and certifications which will actually take place about 30 min from my house. I have come in contact and befriended a master hunter judge for the AKC and APLA here in NY which he lives about 2 hrs from me. So in saying I have made some great contacts for the pointing lab and the versatility of these dogs hopefully soon brodie will be seen everywhere. Not sure if you are real familiar with American pointing lab association (APLA) but it is a great organization for dogs that we have. I see you have some litters coming up soon good luck! - Seth

Little Red Ellie Hood PuppyLittle Red Ellie Hood

We just wanted to give you a couple of updated photos of our little Ellie! She is doing so great. She has a bunch of energy...alot more than our 3 year old lab, but she is keeping her young and fit. She went hunting for the first time a couple of weeks ago and we have been training her with pheasant wings in our woods by our house. She has a great nose, and once she learns how to use it, she will be unstoppable. She is still learning what to do in the field. On her first trip, she spent the majority of the time following our 3 year old around, unsure of what she was supposed to do. By the end she had her nose to the ground when we told her to "hunt it up." She is very impressive to others at the dog park as well. No one believes that she is a lab. She is so dark and beautiful. I hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks again for an amazing dog! - Jenny

Hi Linda,
I wanted to let you know little is doing great. She has bonded very well with Bailey, our 15mo old chocolate female and they play together constantly. She is doing great kennel training, hasn't pee'd once in the kennel, and has only piddled a few times in the house. I know her little bladder isn't ready to be loose for long periods until she figures out how to signal she wants to go out the door but she is doing great.

Here are some pics of Brandy that I took on the trip to Anchorage. I have already been told she looks like she is growing fast but it's hard for me to tell since I am around her all the time. She was so sweet and calm and cuddly on that trip, she made a great first impression on me and my kids. My daughter Aislinn calls her "my puppy" :)

Talk to you later,
Ashley

Zima has an appointment with the vet on Monday. She continues to do very well, she love hanging with the kids. Sleeping all night, and eating well. Have a great day. Lee

From Angies List: Purchased a red fox lab puppy from Linda Kelley via the web. In the summer I placed the order for the puppy. The puppy arrived via N.W. airlines on 1/2/09. As promised the puppy is very healthy and a great puppy. It is everything indicated in the description and the process and transaction went extremely well. The puppy arrived with the required vaccines, paperwork, AKC, instruction. The puppy is extremely healthy and has a great personality. Upon having contacted Linda Kelly she provided very accurate information. Communication was great as each of us could assess what each was able to provide or receive. The schedule of what would happen was always reviewed by phone and accurate. Upon the arrival of the dog follow up was great along with further instruction. I would highly recommend Linda Kelly for the purchase of a puppy. The puppy arrived healthy, micro chipped and with full instructions. A great experience that I would use again.

Here are a few pictures of Sarge. He has grown so much since these pictures were taken a week or so ago. He is doing great. Sits and retrieves already. He loves being outside following Bella. Hope all is well at your house. We will send you more updates as he grows.

It is amazing how he has changed in a week. So loveable and cute! We should be the ones thanking you for a great dog and experience. I have referenced the information in the binder often. I forgot to pass along that our vet came to visit Sarge last Friday and all Dr. Zubay could say is how wonderful he is (we think so too!) You do such a great job with the dogs!

I just wanted to give you an update on Samm. She is doing great! It took her a few nights to adjust to our schedule but is now sleeping in until 7am. She is growing so fast! Loves the water but not the hose. Is very easy to train. Already knows sit, stay, paw and high five. We are working on rolling over. She is still on a leash at all times when out of the crate. Is doing excellent at housebreaking. Hasn’t had a accident in over a week. (knock on wood) - Rebecca

Linda,

Haven’t sent a picture in some time, as you can see he has grown up. Rocky is doing great and I am anxious for us to go hunting together this fall. He definitely has a nose for the birds and all the pheasants he has been on got up within shooting distance.

Linda - I wanted you to know that Tink which I renamed Ruby is doing great. I took her and Lucky to the park this morning for running and swimming as I do everyday and left them in my 3,000 square foot pen with the neighbors dog and they were all playing when I left to go to work. While I am reading the paper in the morning she runs upstairs and gets one of her toys and puts her front paws in my lap and chews and then licks me on the neck. I will be going home around 5 for another trip to park. Upon return I dry them off, Ruby runs straight to the food, eats, then straight to her bed next to my TV chair. She is a great dog! Sweet as Lucky. Thanks - Rick

Hello Everyone,

When I was attending, I was assigned a Red Lab rescue dog to train. His name was Tiago and I thought he was a great dog.

I wanted to raise another dog from a puppy and I began to research Red Labs as well as Border Collies. I found a great line of dogs out of South Dakota - Innishfree and the rest is history. My new puppy flew into Norfolk on Wednesday night (11/28/07).

Cody, my 12-1/2 year old Red Male Dobe, Delta, my 5-1/2 year old Black Female Dobe, are accepting him well and teaching him the way of our house hold. Cody has not engaged him in play yet, but Delta is having lots of fun with him.

I have not named him yet, but I am thinking his name will be "Rider".

Linda,
We changed his (Gunner's) name to Jake, and as you can see from the pictures he has made himself right at home. He has such a great disposition and cute personality we enjoy him more every day.
Thanks,
Tracy & Bridgette

In Response to a request to email a potential buyer who was hesitant to purchase a puppy over the internet:

I understand your hesitancy as I had the same feelings. We asked for a mild tempered lab, the 2nd to 3rd largest in the litter as I have a 2.5 year old daughter and 4 month old son. Jake, our male, is a delight and with lab puppies, that can be hard to say the 1st few months (sometime years). He is getting the paper every morning, sitting on command and laying down about 80% on command. My puppy arrived on time (in a nice crate w/ food and water) and in good health (took to the vet that day). - Tracy

In Response to a request to email a potential buyer who was hesitant to purchase a puppy over the internet:

I only have good things to say about my new puppy. He is showing that he is very intelligent, easy to potty break, figured out how to open the door between the house and garage and has become very willing to play and explore on his own. I introduced him to a dead pheasant and it didn’t take but a couple of minutes before he had it in his mouth. I have also noticed his great smelling capability. I have high hopes for Rocky that he will be a great companion and hunting partner. I found the Kelly’s to be very nice people and have already recommended them to my boss. - Pat 2007

Lady did a great job with her nose to the ground. As a side note, her coat is silky soft, unlike other labs I've seen. Needless to say, Bob has fallen in love!! - Brian.

I wanted to send this Picture of Buddy (Tigger - 2006) I took him to a trainer in Idaho today and he was amazed how birdie he is. He said he is the best Lab he has ever trained and had high compliments for the breeder.

I wanted to send you a picture and an update on. I entered him in his first Junior Hunt test this past weekend and he received a qualifying score. He was one of the youngest dogs out of the 42 entries. I will be flying him to your neck of the woods next month for the Pheasant opener in Gregory SD and look forward to hunting over him for the first time. He is quite the dog with amazing drive yet he is so calm and kindhearted around the house. - Mark

Hello Linda & Family,
I will try to get some pictures of Fuego (Black 2005) to you. But I thought that I would give you an update on the pup. He is one of the biggest puppies I have seen. He is long and lanky. Much more so than any lab I have seen. He is very energetic and happy. He will dive completely under the surface of our swimming pool when he is diving for something. I took him on a few dove hunts and he did OK. Nothing really spectacular but they were his first hunts and very few labs really enjoy doves. This last weekend I took him to my home in Utah for the opener of the duck hunt. Again, he did OK but it was all new and he is still a pup. He did find a duck that my nephew shot. This was spectacular. The retrieve was two or three hours old and buried in the weeds, not to mention blind. But he found it, turns out it was my nephews first duck. I stayed there for a week. The weather was not good for duck hunting so I took him Grouse hunting. Wow! It was like he had done this a hundred times! The first bird he did not really want to retrieve. As I continued on I noticed he was smelling something. I gave him some encouragement and he went with it. He followed the sent a hundred yards up the hill and flushed the grouse, it flew over me and I shot it. He did a little better retrieving it. Then with some more encouragement he went up and found another one. The rest of the day he flushed and retrieved like a well polished retriever. It was really amazing. Just like that he got it. He figured out how to play the game.

That's all for know but I have a feeling that there will be more to come. - Roland

UPDATE: Just to let you know that Fred is doing fine.. He has had pheasants chucka, ruffed grouse, Spruce grouse, Sharptails, and ptarmagian shot over him the past year.. His pointing is spotty, put his retrieving and flushing is good. I know that he will make an excellent dog.. Your quality in your breeding stock shows through your pups.. Keep up the good work.. I am always amazed at this dogs stamina.. Thanks again and Fred is heading up to Northern Quebec to go with me once again on a Caribou hunt.. So he will get a lot more work on ptarmagian, and spruce grouse.. Take care and let the kids know that Fred is getting along great.. By the way his best friend is a young raccoon who thinks that he is a dog. Fred really looks out for this critter and actually mothers it.. Take care ...Tom
